Outside contribution (Observing nature)

Observing nature on campus:

I decided to observe nature from behind the dorm Pondside 3 which happens to be where I live on campus at Keene State College. I decided to observe from this place because it was most convenient for me, but also due to the fact that the view behind pondside 3 is amazing in my opinion. I would suggest that if someone has the chance to go behind Pondside 3 to go check it out on a nice day and just observe nature as I did. In terms of plants that I saw while observing behind Pondside 3, I saw a lot of trees and some other plants that I am unaware of. One of the best things about living in Pondside 3 and having a view of the pond outside your window is that you also get to observe a lot of the wildlife that hangs out. One of my favorite animals to observe from Pondside 3 would definitely be the groundhog my roommates and I named ernie. I am not too sure if it is the same groundhog that comes back each time but I would like to think it is Earnie coming back each time. I also saw a lot of squirrels and birds when observing the wildlife and nature outside Pondside 3. One of the most common things to observe in nature at the pond is the ducks and the fake ones. Another surprising yet not that surprising thing I saw while observing Pondside 3 was the many people who do not attend Keene State College that fish at the pond behind the building. Since I have technically been observing the nature around Pondside 3 all year because I live there I have noticed some recurring things and also things I have not yet seen before. A repetitive thing I have seen outside of Pondside 3 is the groundhog that comes back, fisherman and squirrels and birds. I felt quite happy and at peace when observing the nature outside Pondside 3. I felt very calm due to the fact that I just got to relax while watching nature occur naturally. Something that I would like to share is actually a personal story that I have with one of the fishermen outside of Pondside 3. One time I was looking outside my bedroom window at some of the people fishing at the pond. I noticed that they were leaving and while they left, one of them actually looked through the window at me and waved. I was honestly and still am very creeped out by the situation. Thankfully this situation has only happened to me once.

  1. I love this post. The photo is so pretty, we really get some good sunsets in New Hampshire. I also have been out behind pondside 3 a few times. During class, I remember someone mentioning the little rock that all the painted turtles gather on together. And I loveee that you named the groundhog Ernie. There is another one right behind Carle and his home is right outside of the doors. He is out all the time enjoying the sun and running around.
